Light Guide cables carry the light from an external light source to the borescope. The This guide itself is typically constructed of a non-coherent bundle of glass fiber optics. Another method is a liquid light guide cable which is required to carry Ultraviolet light, This "Liquid" type of cable is commonly oversold as being the best for all applications and it is not worth the price difference for standard industrial usage. The least expensive and most common cable used in industry and many medical applications is constructed of 4-5mm bundle glass fiber optic material that is highly polished on both ends and housed in a protective jacket to prevent bending at several angles and abrasion damage.
