This Fiberscope image archive was created using a Flexible Boroscope (Fiberscope) like the one shown in the photo above. These images illustrate various visual inspection scenarios and types of viewing situations, lighting, viewing distance to object, field of view, direction of view, fiber count resolution, videoscope image resolution and other aspects to make Borescope purchasers aware of what is available. The purpose of this site is to educate prospective buyers of these devices in the benefits and limitations of the technology.

Fiberscopes also known as Flexible Borescopes or "Boroscopes" and also known as Flexible Endoscopes (Medical Term) are optical devices designed for peering inside inaccessible areas, cavities, pipes, holes, etc. to view internal conditions. The major benefit of using a Fiberscope over a Rigid Boroscope as shown on the previous page is they are designed to go around curves and can be bent to be fed into restricted access areas where a straight ahead view is not possible. Like rigid boroscopes, they have a small diameter and a large depth of field. However, unlike rigid scopes the resolution of the image is usually limited to viewing objects closer if significant details are intended to be viewed. Using a fiberscope in the example for rigid borescopes on the previous page (the business card on a desk versus a bulletin board down the hall) The difference between the fiberscope viewing these different objects would be the details that are easily shown. With the rigid borescope you could read the contents of various posters, letters, etc. on the bulletin board. However, with the Fiberscope- due to the limited number of fibers in the coherent image bundle- you would most likely see less detail of the posters or letters. The minimum focal point is normally 2mm from the tip (.080") and maximum is to infinity. Below are a variety of images taken to illustrate various viewing conditions with a standard Fiberscope attached to video imaging equipment.
