VIDEO CAMERAS

Video Cameras that attach to borescopes must be lightweight and not imbalance the borescope or fiberscope during usage. Unfortunately most "off the shelf" industrial c-mount cameras are bulky and heavy. Another consideration is that the camera must be light sensitive enough for use with borescopes. Many older (pre year 2000) video cameras are not light sensitive enough for many applications, whereas black and white cameras are more sensitive. 35mm photo's were great in the past, however this method is fading away as the choice of documentation- most users demand live video recorded to video tape or digital media. Video cameras are easily attached to the borescope by focusable lens with a "C Mount" or "CS Mount"... this is an industry standard for video cameras.
Unfortunately as the popularity has risen for digital cameras being used in industry- they cannot be connected to borescopes. The reason is that they have no industry standard lens, the lens is movable and would crash into the borescope eyepiece, the lux/light sensitivity is usually not good enough for use for borescope inspections. Perhaps in the future such digital cameras will be standardized and have removable lens capability like 35mm SLR lens cameras have.
